My husband is being promoted soon, this is the first time he'll be home during a promotion. What are some things you do for your husbands when they get promoted?

Dont they have promotion ceremonies? I don't know..this is the first time he's been home for a promotion. I'm wanting to do something for him, a promotion ceremony doesn't really have anything to do with me doing something fo rhim 

lol I like that.  It's fun. Especially if you do it at the promotion ceremony right after they get pinned. They have to maintain their bearing... ;)

I don't know how "fun" of thing to do you are looking for, but being part of the ceremony is nice. You could always celebrate it with a few friends or look up some traditions. If he s becoming an NCO, or if he is an NCO and does not have a ceremonial sword yet, you could buy him his sword and a display case for it.

We celebrate promotions alone. You know go out to dinner, let him have his day, and maybe he will even get lucky, lol. 

my usband picked up and i was the one who got to pin him along with one of his higher ups cuz that was what my husband chose. they get to pick usually who they want to pin them. and it is tradition from what i was told to pound it into their collar bone when u pin them. lol...i didnt but, i was allowed to kiss him after pinning him. you never know...but we went out to the bar after... 

I think I prespent the jump in pay to celebrate. JK. I'm pretty sure it involved a special dinner out, well, as special as it can be with 2 kids in tow and some spoiling for him. But we're pretty low key :-) 

You can throw him a wet down and invite his closest buddies. Or you can get him a special gift. It doesn't have to be anything big but maybe a silver flask with his new rank engraved in it or a zippo lighter, or something that he can keep and look back on when he's old and retired. 

We had a wet down for my husband's promotion. We got a keg and invited a bunch of friends, had lots of food and I got a fancy cake made for him that said "congratulations (new rank our last name)!"
