So I was wondering what are you doing if you been on NACCRRA and on the the "waiting list" to get back on? I can't believe we only get 3,000$ a year! I mean, I really dont trust in-home daycare providers because of the horror stories I heard in the past as well as personal experiences I experienced in the past. I had my child in a very DECENT, CLEAN, well-maintained, learning daycare in town but tuition is over 215$ A WEEK!!! I cant afford it no more. I put him on the waiting list on base and its about 8 months out. I will be forced to quit my job if I dont get him on base sooner. What are you doing to those that been cut off NACCRRA? how do you apply for other subsidy??
I already emailed my FRO since no one told me about this until last week and tuiton was due 09/01/10 My daycare told me they would match the chepaest day care but so far LIKE YOU I have to find a cheap one below $750.00 until this is resolved I have to pay them the full amount which means i will probably have to quit my job! I use to pay $108.00 a month

uummm sorry you had a bad experience but that's a pretty harsh comment. Some providers aren't the best but some are great..just like anywhere else INCLUDING CENTERS....maybe you should do some intense interviewing and re think going to an in home provider...
Right now like NYC-MAMI I have no option but to quit soon my FRO is looking up what I can do becasue for other subsidies that are availiable we make TOO MUCH$$

Have you ever tried working opposite shifts than your husband? I know it's not the greatest but we did it for a couple years while i worked so we didn't pay for childcare.

You should only take offense if you fall into that category of a provider. I did not mean it as in every in-home daycare provider is bad....but lets just face it, there is no monitor there, you never know what happens behind closed doors. Also, they charge weekly and its pretty expensive WITHOUT subsidy... I, like a few people I know, are better off quitting our jobs because all were working for is daycare and not our bills. Quitting isn't necessarily an option for me because my bills are still going to be there.

can't because I am a government employee with a set schedule.
With hime being deployed right now its no help and he will be back soon but will leave shortly and I have no family here to help out so its hard ANY OTHER IDEAS believe me when you get paid 1100 a month and 750.00 is for daycare its great to hear what other people have to say
NYC I feel you I have student loans that my husband wont pay and credit cards that he wont touch so really its just messed up I depend on that subsidy to work and now with this I am forced to really think twice but DAMN it sucks

Im in the same boat!! I have no one I know that can watch my kid on the hours I work. I don't know why they did such a major budget cut to NACCRRA. =(

I am an FCC provider We are monitored but no, we don't have cameras...but anything can happen anywhere INCLUDING a center which by the way are also "behind closed doors" I don't know of any providers that don't take subsidy and with subsidy it's pretty cheap if you ask me..anywhere from $2.50-$3.25/hr. If you don't qualify for subsidy then it depends on the provider. Have you talked to one and asked what they would charge full time without subsidy? Doesn't hurt to ask...If you don't qualify for subsidy then they're pretty much telling you that you make enough money to pay for daycare on your own so i'm not really understanding what your point is? Maybe you have too many bills?

oic....I say just call providers and see what they would charge for drop ins for however many hours you need. Not all providers do it but some will... how many hours a week do you need care?

The problem is.... I dont know how you apply for regular subsidy... I was on NACCRRA which is military subsidy but I dont know if its different than regular subsidy??
Yes we have alot of bills that were trying to pay off. But when you are left with an X amount after taxes and basic cost of necessities THEN have to balance out daycare and bills, it gets overwhelming. Like I said, instead of limiting us to only a said amount of subsidy....or putting us who HAVE subsidy on a waiting list....maybe THEY SHOULD HAVE PUT THOSE WHO ARE BARLEY APPLYING FOR IT NOW on a waiting list. Makes sense because we already have jobs/or going to school.
Yeah...those are pretty long hours but i'm sure you could find a provider that would work with you....call or go to FCC and ask for a list of providers that have drop ins, call them and ask =0) Good luck!

Go to the FCC office and ask them...they will give you the paperwork and tell you if you qualify. Unless your husband is a SSGT or higher or you have a very well paying job you should qualify. NACCRRA is different
I agree with you NYC I think it should of been handled a different way I did contact my FRO and he is to still get back to me on what I can do cause when I called Naccraa they were very rude and they stated that they think this might be like 6 months then if that is the case I should just quit now
My husband is a SSGt and I get paid decenr $$ but the problem is personal he does not pay for daycare i do so they dont care about that he can have 1 million dollars and wont chip in

depending how much money is after taxes and other spouse brings in....they STILL qualify too =(
why the sad face? Do you not want to qualify?! lol

I hope you are not saying he does not support HIS child...
I can't believe we only get 3,000$ a year! I mean,
True and in my opinion if you find you cannot afford childcare stay home with them until they are school age and then go back to work. Children sometimes mean saccrifices.

That's what i'm not understanding...You have to give FCC a copy of his LES and proof of your income or that you go to school full time to apply for subsidy
bottom line....go to FCC and apply for subsidy....if you qualify, wonderful but that does mean you will have to take your children to the dreaded horrible in home providers, lol. If you don't qualify then like I said, you make enough to pay for it on your own.

Which is what we are doing since childcare here is crazy expensive. :(
