Does anyone have any creative ideas on how kids can countdown a deployment. (it seems like everyone does the paper chains & candy in a jar) I was trying to come up with something different. Thanks!

How about getting ahold of one of those huge calendars like they use in the I used to be fat show? Be kind of fun and they could go through and color the pages.

Stickers on a calendar? or do like a daily scrapbook may be kinda tough but like take a pic of what you and your kid(s) did that day or week and start making a scrapbook so when dad/mom comes home the kid(s) if old enough can tell their parent what they did while gone

Me and my kids made a calendar when my husband went to Korea for three months. I took a 12x12 pieces of cardstock for each month and punched out squres for the days. We decorated the top and glued the squares on and each day they would takes turns marking an x on another day down.

something really cool you can do for your husband...a girl I know is doing this and I will too when the time comes.

She started an album on her Facebook and each day she posts a pic of her daughter and what they did that day, she writes it like its from her daughter to her daddy.

example one post was of her standing at the window looking out and the caption read..

daddy, its raining outside today so we cant go out and play. Instead we stayed in and (whatever they did that day I dont remember lol) I love you. Mommy told me that this time will go by really fast and I am glad because I really miss you.

A couple of my friends did a candy jar. One filled a jar with the number of M&M's that there were days in the deployment and let him eat one each morning when he woke up so he would be one day closer to coming home. He got to see the candies gradually going down and it's an easy idea if you don't have a lot of time, and you can use it in conjunction with other ideas as well :)
