Ok....so its kind of a long story but ill try to make it as short as possible. I just found out a few weeks back my 4month old daughter has severe acid reflux. We tried the formula for AR and now shes on meds for it. 1.5ml 2xs a day and she gets that. Well ever since shes been on this formula...she only eats like 3 maybe 4oz top every feeding and she more or less "snacks" all day and night. I have NO idea how to break this so she eats a full 5 or 6oz and is full for like 3 or 4 hours!!! Its driving me crazy that im constantly sitting down and feeding her and cant get anything done or spend time with our 2 year old. Dr said to make her wait out the 3 hours....keep her occupied with playing, tummy time, letting her cry it out for a bit to work up an appetite...nothings working. she still eats the same. And its hard at night time when she only eats 2 or 3oz then falls asleep and wakes up like ever hour and a half! im so exhausted from not getting sleep and i feel like i cant get anything done. =( Any advice on what to do or try please. She is propped up in the bassinet, she burps good and usually like 3 or 4 of them, spits up alot still but the dr said that may not stop. Im out of ideas....anyone with some advice or questions please feel free to ask or give me your advice. thanks so much

It is better for them to eat smaller meals more frequently. My daugher does the same and has had the AR issues since she was a month old and is now 4 months. She still eats 4oz every 2 hours or so. Her night time schedule is just starting to get better where I am only up 2x/night or so now. We tried Zantac which did nothing, had a bunch of studies and tests done and are now using Prevacid. Eventually it will get better on it's own as she physically matures.

I went through the same thing with my son:( It was hard, and I was exhausted. It got easier when he started solids.

Hang in there...my son just went back on the Meds (Prevacid) he is 7 months and he is only eating maybe 6 oz at a time...he is a huge snacker...He is eating the Alimentum though his tummy can't handle the rice....He just now went to 1-2X a night...he is also on solids but overfeeding is a bad thing for the reflux makes him super crabby if he eats too much atone sitting...the doc said he may not sleep through the night until after 12 months...if you are a SAHM sleep when they decide too....

my son was 8 months old when he stopped doing that..he still only ate a maximum of 6 oz at a time and never slept through the night till I forced him to. He was finally old enough and eating enough at 8 months old to sleep all night so I just had to cut out the night time bottles. He got used to it and started sleeping through the night. But unfortunately you can't force them to eat more than they want to and less often. Hang in there.

I have a 3,2, and a 9 month old who all had reflux. you are doing everything you can. Here is an idea. When the baby goes down for a short afternoon nap, tell your daughter that it is REST TIME. she doesnt have to sleep but she must go to her room for an hour. It still works with my 3 year old. wording is everything! most of the time doesnt sleep but some time she does. but she knows that she cant come out of her room. she has tv in her room so i put on a movie and when the movie is over she can go get her sister (2) and they can come down stairs.

I know this sounds awful, but you can use an infant seat o hold her while she's eating and it will keep her at the right angle for her belly to hold the formula. Jut put the handle alll the way back, so it braces against the floor, strap her in, prop the bottle up, and try to get as much done as possible while she eats. Dont use it everytime she eats and dont go to sleep while she eats (she could choke and you wouldnt know). Im not a fan of propped bottles and not holding a baby while he/she eats, but since she's eating so frequently, it would give you a way to have your hands free for a minute to do little chores.
