I u live in base housin and u have pets that are not 100% potty trained...refrain from letting them on the carpets..lol...we had our final housing inspection yesterday and our dog had a few accidents through out the 3 years we lived there, which we cleaned right after she did; and I rug doctors the day before the inspection....we r still paying 830.00!!!! Some of the blacklight stains were from when my so was a baby too...o well
Oh my goodness, the carpet must have been brand new or something when you first moved in. Even so, you shouldn't be paying that much. The three years you've lived there should significantly reduce how much you pay since they have to replace it after x amount of years anyway.
Yea...it was not all of our Rooms either...for the whole house it is 1400...and if they find ONE blacklight spot in the room/..u have to pay for the whole room!! My carpet LOOKED immaculate...apparently not...lmao!
That sucks! Everyone should invest in an awesome carpet cleaner. Our pup had some accidents and I always used natures miracle and steam cleaned the carpets and we weren't charged a dime

My cousin lived on base for 4 years in the same home, and when they moved out had to pay nearly 1000 for carpet throughout the house, never had a dog or a cat, I think they must've gotten screwed! :(
I thought after 3 years you weren't responsible for carpets anyhow...maybe it's 5 years now?
It's five.
I think it depends on who is doing the inspection! And the housing district. When we lived in Serra Mesa, they refused to give me a quote to replace the carpets...when I called in San Onofre, there is a person who deals specifically with the move out charges and I could have gotten a quote (had I remembered to call back - lol).
What sucks about that is even when the carpet is replaced, they don't always replace the padding. That's who I got screwed at our last house with our living room carpet.
Our dogs have left a stain in almost every room in our house except the guest room. But I was in there the other day and noticed a stain behind the door that my husband didn't write down on the inspection sheet. So I won't be surprised if they try to charge us for that too
Us neither, my pre-teen tried to clean some white shoes without telling us and spilled bleach on the carpet, then he tried to clean it up and made it even worst
thats so dumb because when i moved into this house there is a big spot where you can tell they tried to spot treat after shampooing. they didn't replace the whole livingroom. I mentioned it in our move in inspections so i wont be charged but i wonder if they got the money from the previous owners then just shampood and spot treated this carpet
If you have pets, apparently they will check UNDER the carpet...on the padding. Which you can not clean.
That is ridiculous. And its crappy carpet too. We'll be here a few years so I'm not worried at the moment but I'm tempted to get a quote on how much it will cost to replace the carpet ourselves. And I am NOT doing the final inspection, my hubby can do that when we finally move out. I'd probably punch the person in the face.

That's funny that they charge you for stains in the carpet that you can't see without a black light. Because when I moved in to my house a couple months ago, the living room carpet was worn down and had quite a few stains on it that you could see. One particular disgusting looking one. I wonder why they didn't change the carpet when the last people moved out :(

When we moved in we were given a detailed list of how much everything would cost to replace.
This is ridiculous. If they try to charge you you need to get an exact break down of what they're charging you for. Find out the life of the carpet and how long it has been there. If it's $1000 for the whole place and you've lived there three years and the life of the carpet is 5 years, even if they have to replace it all you shouldn't be paying more than $400 since you lived there 3 years. That's just an example.
Now I'm scared about my carpet :( My dog has never had an accident on it but there are a couple black stains I have no idea what they are from..Does anyone have any recommendations on a pro carpet cleaner?
We had really high quality carpet put in our house back home and it was pricey but not much more than what they quote for this cheap nasty carpet. We had it professionally installed and everything. I would ask to see the cost of the product and than the cost to lay it. Im sure they have to pad the pricing. They buy the crap buy bulk and its not installed by professionals. The maintenance guys stink at laying carpet. We have lumps everywhere.
I dont want to buy one since were moving and the house were moving into doesnt have any carpet :( Does any one know where I can rent one or a place where they will come and do it?
When I got off of active duty, I worked cleaning and installing carpet while I was in school.
If your dog smells other dog urine in the carpet, the padding, even the sub-floor (if it's wood), the dog will mark there.
The urine can be years and years old...your dog will still smell it. This even goes for some dogs that are 100% house broken. You can't train instinct out of them.
