Im so excited to be going back home for a few weeks. My hubby is away at school for his new mos and im packing my 2 year old and 4 month old and were hitting the road and heading back home to Wisconsin! Cant wait to go and see the family and introduce them to our new little precious girl! Whats the longest some of you have traveled with young ones? When i map quested it, it said it would take about 34 hours to drive it. I drove last time when my oldest was 9 months and she did surprisingly well and we made it in 33 hours and no stops...other than for gas, food and to get out and stretch....anyways just wanted to say im excited to be going home! =) its been over a year since we've last been out there!! Have a great night ladies!

dang, I would NEVER drive that far just for a few weeks. With gas prices, it costs the same to drive as it does to fly. I drove 8 days straight for about 9 hrs a day with a 5 yr old and 7 month old... After the first day I was ready to kill myself. I spent several hours of the trip crying while driving and would never in a million years do that again.

haha well ill be out there for 2 months...and no driving would be much better. Tickets for myself and 2 kids flying are well over $500 and then the dogs are $300 a piece. Not will to spend that kind of money when i can drive it and spend $400 on gas and be done. haha And last time it wasnt too bad. I dont like stopping unless we have to so im pushing it til we get there. Thanks to my friend caffeine, i can make it through just about anything. i will have my dad flying out to help with either driving or helping out with the girls so we dont have to stop as often for little things so im hoping it goes smoothly for us!

BugAndMonkeysMomma --- 14 years ago -

Ahh... I'm leaving MI on Monday to come back to Cali ... I have two and three year old kids and a lab. Ive driven this trip 4 x now but I still hate being in the car that long! Im addicted to audio books so listening to them keep me awake and more focused, for some reason the radio makes me sleepy after a while. It's about 36 hours but we plan to stop for the night, I'm not in that big of a hurry and would rather not be exhausted when I get there. Good luck to everyone taking trips and be safe!

i made the drive with a 6 week old baby from ca to ny shortly after my hubby deploed 1.5 years ago.he was very sick (like needed surgery)at the time but we didn't know that cause navy hospital refused to listen to me when i told them something was wrong. made the trip from ny to ca when he was 6 months old. it wasn't too bad either time, he got a little cranky the last day or so. i'd do it again. and that was hard drving both of those trips. only stopping for gas and ate when had to stop to feed the baby.

next month will be moving from ca to ny with 2 kids (21 months and 3 months) when hubby gets out.

I leave tuesday for MN and I am not looking forward to it at all. I have a cat, and two young dogs. My husband OSS driving the uhaul and towing our other car. Our plan is to make 3 stops and be there by friday. It's going to be about 8-9hours of total driving and about 500-600 miles a day. I am thankful we don't have kids because there is no way I could do that drive with kids. Good luck ladies and have a safe trip

BugAndMonkeysMomma --- 14 years ago -

thanks and good luck to everyone driving and have a safe trip as well...=)

Your gonna drive for 33ish hours without stopping to sleep with 2 babies?

skysmommy --- 14 years ago -

yikes ....idk about this 4 months = a diaper change every hour not to mention pulling over for feedings ...we did cali to utah when my son was that age . lots of pulling over bc baby comes first . I am glad ur dad is going to help u with the drive at least!

BugAndMonkeysMomma --- 14 years ago -

yea...its not really that bad. Ive done it before so im not really too worried. Obviously the kids come first so if we have to stop for feedings or let them out to run and stretch i have no problem but i think itll be just fine. Thankfully both my kids love the car haha and my older one is so interested in the scenery that we will have plenty of books, toys, snacks and movies to keep her entertained.

We have made this trip a couple of times too! I have a 3 year old and a 2 year old. I guess its not too bad...I mean stop every few hours, get gas and stretch and then get back on the road! I wouldnt do it alone...so good thing ur dad is coming out to help! lol I am from Mi tho. right on the border of WI. We actually plan on moving to madison( beaver dam area) in August! I am sooo stoked! :):) Good luck on your traveling! :)
