Hey guys, I know that there are a few topics on this already, but my husband is coming off recruiting duty in WI and we are moving to CP in January. We have already received an offer for Santa Margarita. Have they done much renovating? Housing fairly nice? Anyone willing to send pictures? Thanks a bunch :-)
I personally LOVE it. I'm not sure about the renovating, but nothing really seems too outdated. They just installed over the stove microwaves for all of us. There are a lot of dogs, but I've heard other areas like Stuart Mesa are worse about the noise.
I would recommend it. PM me with your email and I'll see if I can get you pics.
I live here. I honestly like it, sometimes I hate is because we have so many critters but i really like it over all. Like above, nothing is "new" but its liveable. We didnt get new microwaves. They have a small back yard, i think its a great size for a dog to use the bathroom and doesnt take to much time to upkeep it. It also has a patio. The bathroom upstairs is pretty small and the cabinets look like they are from the brady bunch house lol
We live on a pretty quiet street. Do u know which street you would be on?
I honestly wouldn't want to live here again, unless they did some serious renovations. It's my understanding that they recently started installing microwaves as people move out. We have been here three years so we don't have one. NOt a huge deal to me. I hate that the cabinets are from the 70's, there doesn't seem to be enough cabinet space, and the cabinets are small (my plates don't fit). I do like the small yard. It gives my dogs somewhere to play/potty. I hate that there is damage to the cabinets and stair railings from previous pets chewing on them and that the damage wasn't fixed before we moved in. The floor plan is really closed off and I would prefer my kitchen, living room and dining room be more open. And last but not least...I HATE the fact that I feel like I have been battling mice since we moved in!!!!
I actually love living in Santa Margarita besides the few rude neighbors but you can have that anywhere. We have a 2 bedroom and have more that enough room. Yes the cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms are outdated but that really is the worst of it. We get a great breeze from the ocean and our house never gets too warm.
It's ok living here, like every one said the cabinets are really outdated and I guess the people who were here before me let their animals just chew on everything because they are really chewed and scratched up. They must be installing microwaves slowly because we don't have one either, we have our own of course but not one installed. I love the yards and my street I am on is really quiet so over all it's ok.
We don't know yet. We wont be moving there until January. We still have 5 months left out here on Recruiting duty. They just said that we would probably be assigned to Santa Marg as of now. I'll be sure to repost after I move into a community though to make some friends!
I'm moving to Pendleton with my husband in April after recruiting duty, and we're planned to go into Santa Margarita. Relieved to finally see pictures of it!
It's garbage compared to the newer housing areas. I lived there before they "renovated" it for 5 years. I have friends that currently live there so i've also see it after the renovations...
Ceiling fans in all the rooms, new appliances, new back yard fence, and new cabinet doors that's about all they did.
Storage still sucks, it's a single car garage, rooms are small...etc. Many better housing options on base i would move into before Santa Margarita or as mentioned living out in town.
I purposely moved home for hubbys deployment just to get out of that housing area. That's how much I hated it. It was too small for us with a German shepherd and an 18 month old. I hated the layout I hated the lack of light and I hated the kitchen the most. However it would have been nice for a couple with no kids and smaller dogs.
I have pictures, too -- if ya wanna PM me your email address, I'll send 'em to ya.
Hubs & I like Santa Margarita just fine. We were underwhelmed @ first & quite disappointed (we came from Cherry Point, in Lawson Village, which was new housing, open floor plan, etc). But, we've settled in & we really like it. It's just the two of us & our dog & cat, though.
Well, it's finally here! We will be moving in Monday, the 16th. We are very excited. Had someone we know out there go and take some pics of the outside. It is small, but we are currently living in a much older house out here in Wisconsin on recruiting duty, so it will be a step up for us. We are getting a $1500 incentive check, which will be able to allow my husband to buy a beater to drive back and forth to work considering he will be in San Onofre @ 1st CEB. Yeah, there is way better housing but hubby would have to get promoted to E6 or I would have to pop out twins, which isn't happening, so we will enjoy it :-) Anyone who lives there now - I will be looking for a dog jogging partner!
